*"As you journey down the path, don’t forget to be present moment-by-moment and absorb the beauty and richness of simply being alive."- Cary David Richards*

Amongst the most adorable of birds to view whilst sitting down in the cool shade of trees by a running stream in the Himalayas is the Plumbeous water-redstart.

The word "Plumbeous" comes from "plumbum" the Latin word for "lead" referring to its blueish grey colouration. "Water" is aptly used to describe its preferred habitat of streams and "redstart" refers to its red tail.

It is a delight to watch the Plumbeous water-redstart sit on its favourite rock making short sallies in the air to capture insects in flight before returning back to its perch. It can also be seen foraging for insects along the edge of the shallow water moving its red tail up and down and opening its tail feathers like a fan in the process.
